ABOUT THE COUNCIL

As you’re visiting our site today, you might have asked yourself, who is the GBTC; what can they do for me and my business; or better yet, what have they done for others in the Greater Baltimore Region?

Our vision is to focus on three key elelments for our members and the Greater Baltimore Community:

  1. TRUSTED CONNECTIONS:  The GBTC will be the organization that provides entrepreneurs and their executive teams “trusted” connections to a variety of resources to help your businesses grow.
  2. PEER TO PEER LEARNING:  We’ll provide entrepreneurs and their executive teams a learning environment based upon peer-to-peer forums.
  3. GATEWAY:  The GBTC will be seen as the Gateway to the region’s tech community.

Rather than going on forever about the great and fantastic things that we do and why our membership is at an all time high (increasing over 20% each of the past few years) we’d rather just give it to you straight (novel idea, I know).  So what else are we about? Here’s our Top Five Short List:

  1. Asking – it’s pretty intuitive, but we’re going to lay it out there anyways – without our members we wouldn’t be much of an organization.  That’s scary to us and one of the things that keeps us up at night.  But even more importantly is that we like and respect our members – they’re great and we enjoy seeing them succeed.  After each of our activities, we send out a survey to ALL of the attendees – why you might ask?  It’s actually because we want to be better.  Alright, onto number 2…
  2. Listening – once we receive the feedback we share the summary of results with everyone on our blog (yep, everyone!).  It took a lot of convincing, but we finally got Steve, our Executive Director, off the ledge, and he agreed that it’s important for us to share how we make things better.  With participant feedback, we make changes – real, live, actionable changes that have great impact!  Next up, number 3...
  3. Delivering – so where does this process leave us and our members?  Actually you’ll be surprised to know that it puts all of us in a pretty good place – in a relationship.  Not like a crazy, weird “we want do everything for our members kind of relationship”, but rather one that we feel is honest and fair and helps to build strong connections and ties in the region and beyond.  We actually deliver on items that they have recommended and make changes that they want and need to help grow themselves and their business.  Ok, almost there, next up is number 4…
  4. Passionate – one of our favorites!  We love what we do and we love helping our members do well.  It’s true, we’re doers here at the GBTC – and guess what?  So are our members.  With that, it’s really no big surprise that we have a pretty amazing synergy between us and our members.  Either way the connection is pretty electric.  On to the LAST one, number 5…
  5. Fun – here’s the truth – people do business with people they like.  There’s nothing wrong with having a little fun at a Wine Tasting, during a Meet the Members, at TechNite or any one of our events for that matter.  Actually come to one of our events and you’ll pretty much see it’s a group filled with fun, engaging people who support one another and help raise the tide of the Greater Baltimore region together.

Alright, you’ve gotten through the short list, now if you want the long list…give us a call or better yet, come visit us for a cup of coffee.  We LOVE to talk about us and what we are doing and we love meeting and connecting people.  Trust us, it won’t be painful and you guessed it, it might even be fun!
